Inversions are a core part of Iyengar yoga because of their unique effects on the body and mind.
They quickly restore energy and inner balance while bringing mental calm and clarity.
Yet for many students, inversions feel intimidating or out of reach. You might be curious but unsure where to start, or practising some inverted poses already without feeling fully supported.
This workshop is designed to get you upside down with confidence!
Over the session, you’ll learn the foundations for inversions through the Iyengar method. We’ll focus on preparation, alignment, and intelligent use of the wall and props to make these poses accessible, safe and effective. Rather than rushing into the final shape, we’ll build the actions and understanding that allow inversions to feel steady and grounded.
You can expect to:
- learn clear pathways toward handstand, forearm balance, headstand and shoulderstand
- develop strength and stability inversions
- improve shoulder mobility and upper-body support
- enhance overall vitality, confidence, and mental clarity
- fall in love with the calming, balancing effects of being upside down
- walk away with tools to continue exploring these poses in class and at home
This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. You do not need to already be practising inversions.
The class will be kept small (max 12 students) to allow for individual guidance and hands-on adjustments throughout, taught by our very own instructor, Lou.

Lou is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher with a strong background in meditation and Tantric philosophy. Her teaching is precise, supportive and grounded in lived experience. She is passionate about helping students understand how poses truly work, so yoga becomes a sustainable, intelligent practice for life.
